Not every Halloween inflatable will be a hit. In this list of Halloween inflatables kids love, we’ll explain how to choose and what to consider from energy cost to water resistance so your next kids party or trick or treat sesh will go off without a hitch.

What kind of Halloween inflatables do kids love?

When choosing a Halloween inflatable, there are so many options… huge pumpkins, spooky bouncy castles, creepy inflatable gates and giant spiders? All available. So what do you choose? Here are the rules we swear by:

  1. Nothing too scary - you don’t want little kids to cry when they approach your front door or refuse to come inside. (Leave the very spooky stuff till they are older.)
  2. Interactive is good - inflatables they can pass under, toss or jump on make for more fun than just simple decoration; like this Oogie Boogie archway, for example.
  3. Fun for fans - Halloween inflatables that are for their favourite characters add a layer of fan excitement. Think Disney movies, fairy tales or books they love like this adorable baby Yoda.
  4. Supersized treats - You don’t have to do just skeletons and ghosts! What about giant versions of chocolate bars, candied apples and other things they can take away mini versions of? How cute is this candy corn family?

How do you secure Halloween inflatables?

Whatever inflatable you get will likely come with instructions on how to secure it. If not, you can always tie them down with rope and garden stakes, sandbags or water jugs. These are all great options for keeping your Halloween inflatables secure, even during the autumn winds. Remember that you can attach several inflatables together and then secure the group on all sides and in the centre. This will save you time on attaching each item individually. Just keep an eye out for heavy wind conditions and take down your decorations if there are any wind warnings. For indoor inflatables, double-sided tape or museum putty will work for smaller items and tabletop decor. This will discourage little hands from walking away with your centrepieces and mantle items.

Are Halloween inflatables waterproof?

Most outdoor Halloween inflatables are made from materials that are naturally water-resistant like plastics and nylons. However, always check the packaging and if it begins to snow or rain heavily, consider bringing them in until the weather improves. Also, be mindful of very sunny (unlikely for a British autumn) or wet conditions followed by ice as this might cause the material to become brittle and more likely to tear.

How much energy do Halloween inflatables use?

While many are battery-powered, some Halloween inflatables use the mains. It’s the same for Christmas inflatables. Homebase explains, “Generally speaking, an inflatable decoration will use around 140-150 watts of energy per hour.” That’s about one penny per hour to run. However, if you have a smart meter, you can monitor this to make sure you’re not going to get a surprise bill once all the trick-or-treaters have left. Make sure everything is using a proper outdoor outlet and outdoor-rated extension leads etc to prevent the risk of shorts, injury and fire.
